Western Landworks · Project planning

Measure first.
Order with confidence.

Estimate material quantities for your driveway, yard and outdoor projects. Start with a guide, enter your dimensions, then confirm products and delivery quantities with your supplier.

All dimensions are in feet or inches as labeled. These tools run on your device; your entries are not submitted to Western Landworks. Calculators require JavaScript.

01 · Rock, soil, bark & sand

Bulk material calculator

Calculate cubic yards and estimated US tons for beds, lawns, pads or trenches. Split irregular areas into simpler shapes and add their results.

Landscape materials · Driveway layers · Planting beds · New lawns

How volume and weight are estimated

Rectangle yards = length × width × depth in inches ÷ 324. A circle uses π × radius². The allowance is added once, then delivery yards are multiplied by loose tons per cubic yard. For a trench, subtract pipe displacement separately if material accuracy requires it.

Default densities are rough planning values informed by Pacific Topsoils’ supplier weights: clean/drain rock 1.40, minus 1.50, bark 0.50, soil blend 1.10, sand 1.45 and compost 0.80 US tons/yd³. They do not apply exactly to every quarry, rock size or moisture condition. In particular, drain-rock weight is only a proxy for angular clean base. Use your supplier’s value.

02 · Two separate layers

Driveway base & surface calculator

Estimate a clean-rock or selected base layer and a minus surface independently. Set either depth to zero for a single-layer refresh. Add turnouts or changing widths as separate calculations.

03 · Pavers, base, sand & edges

Patio & walkway calculator

For one paver size on a rectangular project. Mixed-size patterns use the supplier’s pack coverage. Conventional sand-set paving only; permeable and porcelain systems need their own sections.

04 · Units, caps & drainage stone

Retaining-wall quantity calculator

Measure each constant-height wall segment separately. Defaults are arithmetic examples, not a design for every wall. For large blocks, change face dimensions and use a supplier block schedule.

05 · Lawn and bed zones

Irrigation layout & parts estimator

Add rectangular lawn areas and inline-drip beds separately. Head spacing, nozzle flow and supply capacity determine the zones. Keep areas with different watering needs separate.

Drip beds

The drip estimate uses parallel inline-emitter rows with supply and flush headers. Individual tree emitters and irregular beds need a separate emitter plan. Each area is grouped independently; this calculator does not combine unlike watering needs.
